Sunset Presbyterian Church (SPC) values your visits to our web site. Because of this, we want you to know what we do with any personal information you give us through our web site--and what we won't do with that information.
The information we receive depends on what you do when you visit our site. Additionally, we will only use your personal information in the ways specified when it was collected. We will not subsequently change the way in which we use your personal information, unless you consent to the new usage.
Also, because Internet-related technologies are changing so rapidly, we understand that these guidelines may change in the future. You will find any future privacy policy updates posted on this page for your review.
Questions about the Sunset Presbyterian Church Privacy Policy can be directed to: webmaster@www.sunsetpres.org.
Where We Might Request Personal Information from You
- Website Registration
- Email Lists
- Online forms (Prayer Requests, Care Group Request, etc.)
- Check out from the SPC Online Store (planned for the future)
What We Do
You are required to provide a valid email address when you
register for the website to create a login. Currently, a login is not required
for general use of the website. Future services and features (discussion
boards, polls, surveys, etc.) will require a login account on the website.
Unless you specify it in your profile, information entered in your
profile will be publicly available on the website. Public access
to your information will not be required to use the website.
You may cancel your website account at any time.
Information gathered from online forms may be kept in a protected
database on the SPC server for later retrieval or immediately sent
via email to the people responsible for handling and processing that
information.
Information gathered from online forms on the SPC web site
may be sent to staff at the SPC offices in Portland, Oregon or to
members of SPC Ministry Teams. Sensitive information, such as prayer
requests, will only be sent to staff at the church's offices if you
prefer.
SPC uses an email list server to provide access to information
about the church such as upcoming events, our newsletter, and for
various ministries. Unless you manage a list on the server, you will
not be subscribed to any email list that you have not personally signed
up for. This is known as "opt-in" email. SPC will use only "opt-in"
email lists. All "opt-in" addresses will be held in a protected area
on the SPC server. Such compiled e-mail lists are available only to
select SPC staff, ministry leaders and web support people. You will
be able to "opt-out" of any email list at any time.
If you do manage an email list, you may be added to an email list
to allow us to contact you about maintenance and support isses for
the email list server.
This site may choose to operate an online store in the
future. All customer information submitted through the SPC online
store would be gathered through an encrypted connection to
the SPC server. No credit card numbers would be held on the SPC
server.
The SPC site uses browser "cookies" to keep track of your
login status. In the future, the SPC Online Store may choose to use
them to record customer preference information.
The SPC site does collect IP addresses in the web server
log. We do simple traffic analysis to understand peak traffic times,
traffic volume, and the like. Our goal is to improve your experience
on the site.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell, trade, rent or release personal information gathered from the SPC web site to any third-party or affiliate.
- We do not "trap" e-mail addresses from unsuspecting browsers on the SPC site.
- We do not keep credit card information submitted from the SPC online store in any form on the server.

- Know the sites your kids are visiting and which sites are
appropriate.
- Look for web site privacy policies and read them. Know how
your child's information is treated.
